Jean-Christophe Lanquetin is an artist, a set designer and a teacher at the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin in Strasbourg. Together with François Duconseille, he is the driving force behind Scénos Urbaines - artists' residencies in urban contexts around the world - and the Play>Urban research programme, which explores the possibilities of artistic and performative practices in urban environments.

As a set designer for live performances and exhibitions, he works regularly with Leyla Rabih (director), Djodjo Kazadi (choreographer), and Sammy Baloji (visual artist) on the set design of his recent exhibitions, but also Andréya Ouamba, Nastio Mosquito, Catherine Boskowitz, Dieudonné Niangouna, Guy Régis Jr, Steven Cohen, and Wael Kadour…

In 2021, he was the set designer for the exhibition 'Kinshasa Chroniques' (Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine) with the researcher and curator Dominique Malaquais.

Jean-Christophe Lanquetin has also collaborated with venues and festivals, notably Les Praticables in Bamako (2019 & 2021), and the Royaume des Fleurs in Mayotte, with whom he is an associate artist.

His texts on stage design and scenography have been published by the Chimurenga art magazine.
